In the midst of the ‘earnings season’ it seems as news on new handsets kind of fades away for a bit. Recent details of Samsung’s yearly earnings have been scrutinized to show off some more impressive and or bragging rights numbers. According to Strategy Analytics, Samsung has sold 44.5 million handsets, this toppling Apple’s 35.1 million units. Additionally Samsung has also beaten the long standing Nokia in market share ultimate making the company the number one smart phone vendor on planet earth! So how did Samsung achieve such epic numbers? One word, and a letter. Galaxy S. The Galaxy S series of devices are everywhere and are poised to continue the trend with the soon to be announced Galaxy S III.
The Galaxy S III rumors, leaks and misinformation have been leaking all over the interwebs since before the Galaxy S II devices were readily available. With hype like this it’s hard to ignore the rumors. While leaks of all shapes and sizes dating back to around October of last year have come and gone, the more recent information is giving us a better ideas as to what the Galaxy S III will have to offer. Earlier this month the Samsung sent out invitations to the May 3rd Samsung Unpacked even that will be held in London and officially announce “The Next Galaxy”. Shortly thereafter the teaser site and countdown clock starting ticking. Yesterday, a user manual of the i9300 aka Galaxy S III appeared on the interwebs exposing the design of the handset as well as its specifications. Today a new picture of the device has surfaced but this time without the ‘spy’ suit on. The more believable blurry cam shots of the GSIII recently have assumed the phone was hidden under a rather cumbersome build that was designed to avoid leaking out the actual design before its launch. While the picture that you see above is indeed a bit more believable there is indeed much doubt surrounding its legitimacy. So many grains of salt. In the specs corner of the GSIII ring there is not much more ‘solid’ evidence as numerous reports conflict with the next. The recently leaked user manual states the GSIII will use a 1.5 GHz quad core chip set, while almost in the same breath, Samsung went on the record announcing their new Exynos 1.4 GHz Quad-Core CPU will find its way into the GSIII. So the verdict is definitely still out. Take a look at the i9300 for additional specs.
If I were a betting man, I would plop my hard earned cash on the fact that Samsung has taken the mobile world on a wild goose chase and most of these rumors are dead wrong. This thought ironically enough was also reiterated to TheVerge.Com by an insider source that claims all rumors and leaks up until this point are more than likely false as security measures to keep the device under wraps has been ramped up by Samsung. So, what do you think? Are we chasing a phantom ghost, a wild goose? Luckily we won’t have to wait much longer to get the full details. Anyone eagerly waiting on May 3rd? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think. Of and remember the very best Samsung Galaxy S accessories are here.
